From my previous experiences and observations, there are 2 types of accounting students:
1) Those that know what to be and are highly determined to achieve their dream job
2) Those that do not have any idea why they are in accounting course and hell, do not have a specific dream job
I was, and am still in number 2).
But, I know one thing: There are no coincidences in this world. Every single thing happens for a reason. We may have no idea what the hell is happening. But we are directed in such a way. Believe me, I never ever wanted to be in this field. But all the events always lead me to this field. I lived with confusions. People think I love what I am doing, because to them I am kinda good in my work. What I may not tell them is this: I am an accounts person, who loves writing. And I don't usually write about accounting or finance thingy. Also, I love to share. If possible, I want to share every single information and knowledge that I got from various sources. But of course, time is always the constraint.
Without further doubts, here is my 1st accounting-related post. Hope it helps some of you who are still confused.
An accounting student can possibly be:
1) Chartered Accountants (CA)
There are 3 options available for becoming a CA:
#1 - Full membership of recognised professional bodies e.g. ACCA, CIMA, MICPA
Sit for their exams (part or full time) + 3 years relevant accounting working experience = Chartered Accountants
Please bear in mind: Sitting for these exams are painful struggle, but rewarding, Inshaallah.
Loans/scholarship-Yes, but usually on part-time basis. The beauty of this arrangement is you obtain both paper qualification and work experiences together. The drawbacks? To balance your work and study life. Whatever it is, never give up!

I am still doing this. Currently on REST mode. But I won't give up. You shouldn't too!
#2 - Degree in accounting from MIA-recognised universities + 3 years relevant accounting working experience = Chartered Accountants
Basically, all public universities are recognised by MIA.
Loans/scholarship-Yes, either PTPTN, JPA or private company scholarships e.g. Maybank, Khazanah etc.
#3 - Degree in accounting from MIA-NOT recognised universities + 3 years relevant accounting working experience + [Full membership of recognised professional bodies OR MIA Qualifying Examinations] = Chartered Accountants
I have a friend with this scenario. Her degree was not recognised by MIA. She has obtained enough 3 years' relevant work experience and has opted to take ACCA exam instead of the MIA Qualifying Examination. I pray that she will pass her ACCA soon. Amin.

Here's the summarized version of all above, for your easy reference:
Having said that, a CA may later become:
CFO
Treasurer
Tax advisor
External auditor
Consultant/Trainer
Lecturer
Business person
etc.
2) Others
I won't elaborate a lot on this. But think of a person like the famous Chef Wan. He is an ACCA member, who later pursues his passion in cooking. Also, there is Miss Cindy, an external auditor who later opens her own organic stuff shop, because she is highly interested in healthy living.
Point is: Life does not end, just because you don't like accounting. If you are already in the field, you have 2 options: Quit ASAP and get a course you love or Continue with it until you really figure out what you want in your life. Accounting graduates are highly sought after by most organizations. Not everybody is able to be as analytical as accountants. Once you obtain the qualification and experiences, you can do whatever you want. However, if you decide to return, you can always do so. Why? Because so long as there are businesses (even NGOs), they will always need an accountant.
Never put any limit in everything we do. We can be anything we want.
Just remember this: There are billions of intelligent students with good academic results. What differentiate us from the others?
They are non-measurable qualities like: Ethics, integrity, kindness, respect, honesty, empathy, love, humbleness etc.
Be grateful with that you have. Love and respect your parents and teachers/lecturers. Without them you may not be able to reach this stage.
Take care.

First step and counting
Dear All,
A bit of introduction from me.
This blog will only have posts on accounting tips and knowledge.
I am not that expert i.e. having professional qualification etc (I am in the midst of getting it actually). But I have worked for about 8 years and counting, and I thought I want to share some of the tips with you.
In the mean time, you can also give me your questions and I will try to answer it in the easiest, plain language, reducing the jargons and technicalities.
Bear in mind that I may quote information from other famous blogs and websites whenever I post here. Inshaallah I will never forget to pass credit to the source of information.
Also, depending on time constraint and content, I may use both English and Bahasa Malaysia in my explanation.
This is just a beginning. More to come, Inshaallah.
Take care.
